Our Impact

We have been making a positive impact and improving the quality of life of children and young people with learning disabilities in Harrow for over 15 years. We want to make a difference in the lives of children and young people with disabilities and their families. We aim to enhance their life opportunities by providing play, outreach, short breaks, after school clubs, counselling and family support services to support children and young people to develop their social and emotional resilience in readiness for an active and fulfilling adulthood where they are active and contributing members of their community.

Read what some of the people we have supported have said about us and how we’ve made a difference in their lives.

“I have a daughter with severe autism who attends the schemes at KCA during the holiday periods and on Saturdays.  These services are very helpful to me because it allows me to spend more quality time with my other daughter who often feels left out because my autistic daughter requires constant attention when she’s at home.

The weekends and holiday schemes not only provides my  daughter with the opportunity to engage in fun activities which she enjoys but it also enabled me to develop a better relationship with my other daughter. I am very grateful to the team at KCA for all the wonderful things they do. Without their support things would be very difficult for me’’

“My son Patrick who is 7 and has global developmental delay goes to KCA on a Saturday and during the school holidays.  Patrick really enjoys attending KCA. It means he can socialise with other children and take part in fun activities in a safe environment.

Patrick does not walk and has a much younger mental age than 7, so it is very difficult to find activities for him to participate in over the weekend and during school holidays. He gets bored and frustrated at home which can be stressful for us, his parents, so it’s wonderful that he can attend KCA and be stimulated. He is always happy when we pick him up and the staff are really friendly and supportive of his needs.

Places like KCA are so valuable to children with disabilities and their carers. The children enjoy themselves and the parents get a chance to have a break and/or spend time with their other children.”

“You and your team have been brilliant in providing me with childcare support whenever I required, and I am very thankful for your excellent leadership and management in smooth running of all things.

It was only because of you and all the extra effort that you took to arrange for my son to be at KCA childcare. I could not have returned to work without your help. Before I met you, I had this awful impression about KCA that they never return calls, families cannot find out any information and nothing positive really. But you helped me change it entirely.”

“I couldn’t do a lot of what I do without the support from amazing people like you! Since you’ve joined KCA you have come in with a great spirit and attitude. You truly care for the children in your care and that in turn filters to us as parents. You take each day and its challenges and tackle it head on.”
