Youth Transition Project

All different all connected.

(This project is currently not available)

The project is for young people with special needs and disabilities aged 14 – 25 years. Each year the project will run 3 term based themed activity programmes. Each term runs for 10 weeks and culminates in a final special presentation event.

Each programme focuses on identified needs, such as independent skills, social skills and healthy life style.  Young people have the opportunity to make friendships, gain confidence, freely express themselves, make choices.

During our first term we focused on healthy living which included; going to the supermarket picking out healthy food choices, leaning about budgeting and then coming back and cooking healthy snacks out of the ingredients  purchased. We also looked at the importance of personal hygiene and exercise going out for long walks and runs; many of the participants improved their fitness over the course of the term.

This project is funded by the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.
